Marco Island Beachfront Condos

Marco Island, the largest of the Ten Thousand Islands, is located in Southwest Florida along the Gulf of Mexico. Marco Island began to develop into one of Florida’s most popular destinations in the 1960s when the Deltona Corporation bought and developed much of the island. The development of Marco Island culminated with the construction of the S.S. Jolley Bridge, which connects Marco Island to Naples and remains a popular spot to go fishing.  Read more about Marco Island beachfront condos.

More About Marco Island Beachfront Condos

Marco Island is now home to many beautiful beachfront condos, which line the island’s breathtaking, white-sand coast. With 21 unique condominium communities, there is a beachfront condo on Marco Island that will meet any budget and accommodate every family. Residents enjoy the ocean view while walking along the alluring coastline or riding down scenic bike paths. Foxtail palms and spiral gingers contribute to the tropical paradise atmosphere of Marco Island.

Residents of Marco Island can find almost everything they need within walking distance, as the area is full of upscale restaurants and shopping centers. The Marco Island beachfront offers a wide variety of activities including fishing, boat tours and dolphin watching. There are also a number of businesses which allow residents and vacationers to rent bikes, boats, kayaks and anything else they may need to fully enjoy the beautiful Marco Island beaches.

Both residents and tourists are attracted to cultural events such as art gallery showings and performances put on at the Marco Players Theater. Marco Island is also home to three public and three private golf courses, all of which allow guests to play a relaxing round of golf while enjoying a gorgeous view.

Marco Island Beaches

Marco Island beaches are some of the most beautiful in the world, providing unspoiled stretches of sand and surf. South Beach is a local favorite because it is sparsely populated but offers an abundance of fish with its strong currents and rock jetties for that ideal resting spot. Tigertail Beach is perhaps better known with its Gulf access and sprinkling of barrier islands and tidal pools. The wildlife and surf combine for spectacular views. Cape Romano and Morgan Beach are south of Marco Island and only accessible by water but provide glimpses of the infamous Dome House on stilts, a remnant of the era when many homes were built on stilts, hovering over the sea.

Marco Island Fishing

Marco is well known for its fishing whether it’s deep-sea fishing on the Gulf of Mexico or exploring the salt flats to try some backcountry routes. Either way, the fish are plentiful ranging from snook and tarpon to redfish and trout. A popular activity for locals and tourists alike is to beach a boat on a mangrove and fish from the beach. The Judge S.S. Jolley Bridge is another favorite fishing spot where locals fish from land on all sides of the bridge. Working the swift tides by casting under the bridge toward the piling is rumored to help score a big catch.

Marco Island Boating

With easy access to the Gulf of Mexico as well its many estuaries, Marco’s network of waterways are ideal for boaters of all types. The Island is home to several working marinas as well as the Marco Island Yacht Club located to the right of the S.S. Jolley Bridge entering Marco Island.

Marco Island Nature

As the largest of the Ten Thousand Islands, Marco offers a number of nearby uninhabited isles that are ideal for exploring via kayak, canoe or boat. Meandering through mangrove estuaries, residents can get close to manatees, sea otters, and alligators as well as spot a number of rare birds that make their home in the waterways. Hopping on a wave runner for a guided eco-tour is another way of learning about the tropical wildlife and history of the area. The sandbars surrounding the island are famous for some of the best shelling in the world and feature a mix of whelks, olive shells, and scallops scattered about the shoreline.

Marco Island Culture and the Arts

For art enthusiasts, the Marco Island Center for the Arts offers a rotating exhibit schedule as well as original works by local artists. Classes in photography, sculpture and painting are available as well as ongoing lectures, and live music events. Marco is also home to several ancient burial mounds dating back to the time of the Calusa Indians, the first settlers of the area some 3000 years ago. The Marco Island Historical Museum showcases many of these priceless artifacts and other aspects of the Calusa settlements.

Marco Island Golf

Playing a round of golf amidst sugar-white sands and acres of lakes and wetlands is the perfect beginning to a perfect day. Marco Island is home to both public and private courses, allowing residents and guests to enhance their skills while enjoying stunning views. A few of the most popular courses include the Hideaway Beach Golf Course, which measures 1,844 yards from the back tees with a nine-hole, executive-style layout. Nestled within mature trees and a variety of shrubs and flowers, the 18-hole Island Country Club is another scenic option with dozens of birds flying overhead, including resident bald eagles. The Hammock Bay, a Peter Jacobsen/Jim Hardy design offers a similar “nature park” feel with native foliage and wildlife and is designated a “Gold Certified Signature Sanctuary Course” by Audubon International. Designed by Robert Cupp Jr., The Rookery combines emerald fairways with cypress wetlands to offer 15 holes that incorporate water in some form.

Marco Island Shopping and Dining

Marco is home to specialty shops and boutiques featuring nautical-themed items and resort-wear as well as unique gifts and notions. The local restaurants offer a wide range of menus to suit any palate but many specialize in seafood along with stellar ocean views. Several restaurants offer the option to arrive by boat and park at the onsite docks while sipping a cocktail and enjoying live music.
