WCI Shows Strong Growth

Southwest Florida home sales are up, and this is good news for Bonita Springs-based WCI Communities Inc.  The lifestyle community developer and luxury homebuilder of single and multi-family homes saw strong profits in the first quarter, largely due to strong home sales in Southwest Florida.

The National Association of Home Builders named WCI “America’s Best Builder” in 2004 and also by Builder Magazine.  The company was featured on ABC TV’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” in January 2007.  In the quarter just ended March 31, the homebuilder reported net income of $1.48 million---more than double from the same period a year ago.  Housing and real estate continue to do well and WCI’s CEO reports that their Southwest Florida communities have seen strong growth in sales.

WCI is selling in 25 coastal communities in Florida.  Southwest Florida’s market is focused more on second homes or luxury move-up homes for retirees relocating here.  WCI has luxury communities in Naples, including Tiburon in Naples; Raffia Preserve in Naples; Carrara At Talis Park in Naples; The Colony Golf & Bay Club in Bonita Springs; and Pelican Preserve in Fort Myers.  New orders for homes have increased nearly 50% compared to a year ago, and deliveries of homes increased almost 50% as the average selling price climbed 7% to $410,000.
