Soluna Coming to North Naples
Another new townhome community is headed to North Naples. Soluna is a new residential community going in at the southwest corner of Massey Street and Tree Farm Road where some old radio towers once operated.
DR Horton recently purchased the land and plans to construct more than 100 new townhomes on the site. When finished, Soluna will consist of 16 different six-plex buildings and other three four-plex buildings.
The townhomes of Soluna will be constructed on both sides of a road looping around a lake at the center of the property. The new development gets its name by combining the Spanish words sun and moon.
As for shared amenities, plans call for including a community swimming pool and a dog park. Some of the acreage will be left as wetland preserve. The only entrance to Soluna, according to recent plans, is off Tree Farm Road.
The new townhomes sit close to Collier Boulevard and Immokalee Road in North Naples. The 18-acre property sold for more than $3 million this past November.
Previously zoned for rural agriculture, it was rezoned to accommodate residential development and the future townhomes. While about half of the property was used for the radio towers, the rest of land was mostly wooded.
Once connected to WNOG, the radio station with towers on the property was the very first radio station in Naples. It operated for more than 65 years but signed off permanently this past spring.
Its towers were moved to Massey Street about 30 years ago. Until more recently it’s been a more secluded section of Collier County.
Several housing developments have gone up in the area in recent time, including plans for the new Soluna townhomes. The land for Soluna already sits close to such North Naples housing developments as Compass Landing, Canopy, Vanderbilt Country Club and Mockingbird Crossing.
