Pelican Bay Expanding Clubhouse
The private member-owned Pelican Bay Golf Club in Naples announced plans last week to build a new $27 million clubhouse. The new 2-story clubhouse will replace the current 35 year-old facility by the end of May 2017. Construction is expected to start in May 2016.
The Club Pelican Bay has an Arthur Hills championship-designed, 27-hole golf course. Six tee locations are on each hole. While the club has not yet chosen the architect or construction firm, the new clubhouse is expected to look out over the fairway, lake and the club’s ninth hole. The old structure will be replaced with a new clubhouse that is planned to include new fire pits and more seating for outdoors dining. Covered decks as well as open decks will extend across the entire length of the clubhouse. A new fitness center and spa will be added on the top floor, in addition to a new golf-training area. The existing clubhouse will remain open to members, as construction will be done in stages. The new cart building will be completed first, and then the second floor will be used as a temporary clubhouse with a kitchen and outdoor dining, before the clubhouse is torn down. The building that accommodates the men’s and women’s locker rooms will also be renovated during construction.
Residents of Pelican Bay enjoy many private posh amenities in addition to the golf club. The two beach locations top the list of the best amenities at Pelican Bay. The beach is accessible by foot or tram. There are three exclusive beachfront restaurants serving elegant or casual fare. There is also a fitness center, two full tennis facilities with 18 Har-Tru courts, a wellness studio, computer center, and art studio at the centrally located Community Center. The Pelican Bay community hosts a plethora of cultural activities, and maintains an active social calendar for all residents.
