Old Naples Hidden Gems
Charming Old Naples is where you’ll find area landmarks, plenty of history, and of course, some hidden gems, too.
Garden of Hope and Courage
The Garden of Hope and Courage spans 2.5-acres in Downtown Naples. As part of Baker Hospital, the garden exists as a peaceful spot for reflection, comfort, and healing. Centered around a one-acre lake, the calming space incudes a children’s garden, a pavilion, and a formal garden. A pathway leads around the lake, complete with benches, trees, flowers, and sculptures. Companies such as Tommy Bahama help fund the garden.
Jazz at Cambier Park
Another hidden gem is the opportunity to catch a live jazz concert at Cambier Park, which itself stretches for nearly 13-acres in Downtown Naples. Found close to popular 5th Avenue South, the park offers some traditional sports and recreation options, such as bocce ball, basketball, and tennis, but it also offers a bandshell. The Naples Concert Band just marked its 50th anniversary and plays right in Cambier Park. The 2023/2024 concert schedule includes eight free concerts, beginning in mid-October and concluding in mid-April. Nearly 100 musicians make up the band, which commonly draws in an audience of up to 2,000 people during the regular season.
Quirky shops and restaurants in Naples
In terms of quirky shops and restaurants, you’ll find those too in this part of Naples. The Mercantile Building is more than 100 years old and noted as the first commercial building in the city. These days, the two-story building on Third Street South serves as home to a restaurant called Campiello Ristorante & Bar.
Tin City, meanwhile, is also around a century old, and was once the place for commercial fishing. A popular tourist destination today, you’ll find a number of unique restaurants and shops in this part of the city. You can even book a fishing charter or dolphin tour from Tin City.
