Naples Named Top Place to Retire in Florida
If you’re looking for a top city to live out your Golden Years, Naples is one of the best cities in the nation. That’s according to the latest ranking from the experts at U.S. News & World Report.
The website recently came out with its list of the “Best Places to Retire in the U.S.”, and not surprisingly, Naples is close to the top of the list. The city came in at an admirable number four on its latest ranking, right behind such other top Florida locations as Sarasota, Fort Myers and Port St Lucie.
Cities in Florida easily dominated the list this time around, helped in part by the lack of a state income tax. Retirees are also drawn to the state, and to the Naples region specifically, for warm weather, recreational opportunities and fantastic beaches.
Naples, in particular, received an overall score of 7.2. Along with an almost perfect score for net migration, the city also received top scores for desirability and quality of life.
The city scored slightly lower for the job market and for value. While Naples is considered an attractive location for retirees, it’s not exactly the most affordable in the nation. The median home price sits just under $327,000.
Of course, there are also plenty of positives to mention. The website did point out several of the city’s most attractive qualities.
Known as a desirable spot for wealthy retirees, the Naples area is home to some of the nation’s best beaches, golf courses, shopping and upscale dining possibilities. Many people own second homes in the city, and flock to the Naples area during the colder, winter months of the year.
Naples is a popular spot for fishing and for boating. The area is also home to the natural beauty of locations like Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, plus local museums and annual festivals.
