Naples Named Top City to Live in Nation

Location is important, especially when paired with desirable amenities. That certainly seems to be the case with Naples, which was just named the top city to live in the nation.

The city took top honors in a ranking just released by US News & World Report. The website credits Naples with being number one in its ranking of the “Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2024-2025”.

With an overall score of 7.1, Naples beat out other top contenders, such as Boise, Idaho and Colorado Springs. US News acknowledges Naples has long been favored by retirees and snowbirds eager to escape the harsh winter season prevalent in some other parts of the nation.

The website credits the golf courses in Naples, its many upscale shops and restaurants, and its proximity to pristine beaches. US News also points out the advantage of nearly year-round sunshine and having no state income tax.

In addition, the website makes mention of getting a beach parking sticker when you’re a property owner in Collier County. Other advantages include visiting such natural attractions as Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, and smaller parks too, such as Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park.

Of course, there’s also the popularity of the shops and restaurants of Fifth Avenue South in Old Naples, as well as some of the local museums and annual festivals, such as the multi-day, Naples Winter Wine Festival. US News considered another 149 cities across the nation before it put Naples in the top spot.

To come up with the ranking, US News used a public survey to gain insight into what people feel is most important when deciding where to live. The survey considered quality of life, value, desirability, and the strength of a city’s job market. Home to around 122,000 people, it certainly doesn’t hurt that Naples boasts an unemployment rate below the national average, in addition to a strong job market.
