Capitalizing on the exquisite natural beauty of the area, Marco Island definitely comes out on top when it comes to some of Florida’s best beaches. In fact, the area was just named on a new list of “The 7 Best Beaches in Florida”.
That’s according to TheStreet, a business and investment website. TheStreet easily puts Marco Island on its list of Florida’s top beaches, noted as a “sunset-lover’s dream come true”.
Just a short drive over the bridge from nearby Naples, Marco Island is the perfect place to watch the sun go down over the Gulf, or to peacefully watch dolphins swim by. Relatively quiet and low-key, Marco Island is a more family-friendly destination for those in search of a more peaceful experience on the sand and in the water. It’s the largest of the Ten Thousand Islands, with two public beaches of its own and additionally offers some offshore island beaches.
Perhaps the most popular of its beaches is Tigertail Beach, known for its shallow water and abundant opportunities for birding. Located on a lagoon, the beach offers up lifeguards during the summer season, beach chair rentals, picnic space, plus facilities and a parking lot. There’s also a nearby playground for further entertaining young visitors.
Another option is South Marco Beach, where you’ll find many of the island’s largest luxury hotels. While you won’t find many amenities here, the beach does provide an entire acre for swimming and sunbathing. You’ll also find several opportunities for outdoor recreation, with kayak, paddleboard and Jet Ski rentals available in the area, along with parasailing and some Eco-Tourism opportunities.
Yet another choice for beachgoers is slightly more remote. Sand Dollar Island is an offshore location with shallow water and wide beaches. Accessible from Tigertail Beach by wading across the lagoon, you’ll often find nesting shorebirds here, along with stingrays lounging in the water.
