Goodland – Laid-back Marco Island Charm

For laid-back charm on Marco Island, you’ll want to take a second look at the small community of Goodland. Found on the island’s southeast corner, tiny Goodland is home to a mere 200 or so residents.

For generations, this quiet community has been known as a great place to fish and enjoy the island lifestyle. Although developers once eyed the area as part of an ambitious building project, much of that failed to ever come to reality.

It wasn’t until around the mid-century mark that a road was constructed, and homes began going in. Despite the influx of surrounding development, however, the small community of Goodland never grew very large.

Even so, you’ll still find a nice public boat ramp, marinas with boat launches and a full range of marina services in this fishing village. Nearly surrounded by water, the small village is known to stay relatively quiet most of the time, minus the live bands and parties at local venues on the weekends.

Whether you’re in the mood for some fresh seafood or a cold beer, you’ll find it in Goodland. While the choices are perhaps not as plentiful as other nearby communities, the local venues are memorable and unique.

You can pick also up a nearby boat tour, or of course, do some fishing in Goodland. As far as housing, options include low-rise waterfront condos, like those available at Calusa Island Village.

The property includes such amenities as a boat dock with direct Gulf access and a community swimming pool. In addition, property owners at Calusa Island Village often have waterfront lanais and spacious floor plans.

You’ll also find some single-family homes with water views and direct water access in Goodland. In addition, a Goodland lifestyle makes it easy to enjoy the many other offerings of Marco Island, from area beaches to shopping, dining and more.
