The perfect beach for nature lovers and families who want a variety of recreational activities, Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park in Naples has made “Dr. Beach’s Top 10 Beaches for 2014.” Nicknamed Americas foremost beach expert, Dr. Beach has a list of 50 criteria when deciding which beaches are worthy of his annual Top 10 list. Criteria include: beach material, sand softness, water temperature, number of sunny days, color of sand, and beach shape.
Delnor-Wiggins is a very popular destination spot for visitors who enjoy a pristine, natural beach. It offers peaceful views of the Gulf of Mexico, and ideal for bird watching. Visitors come for sunbathing, snorkeling, hiking, fishing, picnicking and shelling, and the boat ramp. It’s truly a magnificent site for fishing and boating. The natural estuaries of the Cocohatchee River lead out to the Gulf of Mexico. Experienced rangers lead guided tours. Delnor-Wiggins works in tandem with Naples Beach Adventures for reservations for several activities: paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, as well as rentals for umbrellas and beach chairs.
To reach Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park, head west on Immokalee Road in Naples, which turns into 111th Avenue then continue to Bluebill Avenue. It’s a short walk from parking to the water.
