Annual Pet Parade on Third is Fan Favorite

It may not be the biggest attraction in Naples, but one particular festivity this time of year is truly a fan favorite. The Pets On Third Parade is a time-honored, annual event that benefits Humane Society Naples.

The 2024 parade takes place on Third Street South on January 21st. The theme for next month’s parade is “Paw-Fessional Pets: What Profession Would Your Pets Be?” It’s sure to be a hit with pet owners and those who just want to come out and enjoy all the fun.

Prizes will be awarded for costumes. For 2024, a variety of categories are in the running, with prizes ready to be awarded for “Best Theme” and “Most Creative”. There’s also an owner and pet look-alike contest, and a fourth prize is left up to the judges to decide.

Even pet owners who don’t want to walk in the parade are sure to enjoy the outing. The event brings out pet supply shops, pet boarders, trainers, and veterinarians. There will be food and drinks for both owners and pets available during the event, too.

Last year there was a photo booth set up for pets and their owners, plus there was also a Pet Village set up, with representatives from the Humane Society, some non-profits, and pet-related businesses on hand. The parade may be full of fun, but it’s also for a good cause.

While Third Street South and Neapolitan Enterprises jointly host the parade, proceeds raised from parade entry fees and vendor registrations are donated to The Humane Society Naples. The event next month will mark the 15th year for Pets on Third.

While the annual pet parade is obviously pet-friendly, it’s probably no surprise that it’s held on Third Street South. This part of Old Naples is already pet-friendly, and it’s not uncommon for businesses to have water bowls and pet treats on hand.
